Technology Liberation Front: Women Play Video Games?

    Well said, Cord!

Personally, I've been somewhat of a geek for as long as I can remember (the first gaming console in my house was a Nintendo back in 1987 - I was just a curious three-year-old then).

Unfortunately, game developers' past attempts to reach girls have resulted in atrocities such as "That's So Raven!" and "Mary Kate and Ashley" titles--barf.

My God, there was a "Mary Kate and Ashley" video game? I would almost be willing to pay a little money to see how bad that one was.

There appears to be an entire product line of MK&A games. "Magical Mystery Mall" and and "Crush Course" sound particularly intriguing. :)

/has a feeling that THIS is why girls didn't get into gaming.

A role playing game based on Mean Girls might appeal to teenage girls in a dark sort of way. Level 99 Ultimate Catiness attack!

i have also found that some females like to play games like gears of war, and halo. its really surprising in this day and age how game developers are still really marketing games towards males. im sure there are just as many females out there that play oblivion or fallout or any of the racing games. one would think that here in the 21st century we as a society would be way more open minded.

I might feel a little less weird if there was a game like Halo, but with a female lead like Ripley from Aliens. I love shooters, but could do without the Gruffy McGruff-Gruff cutscenes and emo-tastic princesses waiting to be rescued.
