  • Wow, that is crazy. If you refuse to provide your password(s) is there any other way to use it?
  • Oh, you can sign up, you just have to add your friends manually.
  • Yeah, you only need to provide your login info if you want it to automatically invite friends. Most people skip that part...

But, Tim, it'll be interesting to see what you think of Twitter. I had tried it a year ago and then dropped it, but picked it up again about 3 months ago, and found it to be useful in surprising and totally unexpected ways.

The thing that convinced me it was useful was watching the Iowa caucuses unfold via Twitter, with people at the actual caucuses reporting in, giving a much more accurate picture than CNN. It was fascinating.

Also, this weekend, watching the chatter about the Bear Stearns/JP Morgan deal was quite interesting.

It's also resulted in at least one random lunch meetup while I was in NY last month.

If you start to think about it as a sort of public/group chat, it becomes pretty neat.
  • I know some Mac users who worship Twitterific. I just send IM's to Twitter myself.
  • Twhirl is the best I've tried so far.
