  • I'm always interested in the use of the term "hoi polloi," what with its multiple meanings and built-in article.
  • Is there still room on the Internet for something like Hotwired, halfway between niche and general interest? It seems a dying, if not already extinct, category.

    There's an astonishing diversity of content out there. This website, for example. If the WSJ neglects elite readers, there will be no shortage of other sites jostling to fill its old niche.
