The Ugliness of Privacy Notices
It should be apparent to anyone who is paying attention that much of our current leadership is both highly innumerate and ignorant of much of science, too.
Books such as the "Republican War on Science" just begin to scratch the surface of this problem.
The roots of this were observed by C.P.Snow in his 1959 Rede lecture at Cambridge "The Two Cultures" which was much expanded and improved in the book "The Two Cultures and A Second Look".
However no we have not two, but at least three cultures, and the third (the political class) knows all kinds of stuff about manipulation using mass media to subvert democracy, but has very little knowledge of science, geography, or world cultures, besides America's.
But it's never funny. It boggles my mind how old folks can overlook, underestimate, undervalue, and ignore the internet.
There's no excuse for law-makers to be ignorant of that which they control. The fact that they can get away with it is a sad sign of how ignorant the voting majority is themselves.
