On any other election year, one could simply turn one's back and argue for something better academically. Unfortunately 2008 is a defining moment for America I fear. Given the situation I am hoping that Barr will serve as a good influence on Root. Really I'm hoping that Barr will serve as a good influence on America.
Speaking of academic arguments, Thursday it occurred to me that we could have a separate election for the President of the Senate, strengthening the separation of powers, strengthening the Senate, and saying no to the disturbing example of Dick Cheney. As it is with the 12th Amendment, one elector votes for both offices.
