Binary Demand for Copyrighted Goods

  • Nope - no "heresy" here. It's no big deal! There's lots of things people only want 0 or 1 of, if you look at it the right way. And having two copies of a book or CD is perfectly logical. Take, for instance, the Bible. Or Shakespeare. Or, in my case, Kind of Blue by Miles Davis.

Also - supply and demand works in aggregate, across society as a whole. So as price declines, it's society that demands more. It's not a surprise for that to break down at an individual level. Some might say that it's the basis of economics.

Anyway - I just don't see the point here. Maybe it's just lost on me. Sorry.
  • Copies of the copyrighted work "Through Being Cool" by Devo I have paid for:

    1. Public library copy of the Devo album "New Traditionalists" (through property taxes).

    2. Cassette copy of the same album. (Yes, I bought it on cassette. I should have bought the vinyl and media-shifted it.)

    3. CD copy of the same album. (Before Sony was trashing your computers, kids, a Sony tape deck was eating my Devo tapes. Bad Sony, bad, bad!)

    4. Movie ticket to the movie "Heavy Metal".

    5. DVD of "Heavy Metal".
