ITIF. and all the the other lobbying and PR firms that organize themselves as "foundations" or "think tanks", are just doing their job. They've found a gimmick that works, and they go with it. Instead of getting quoted as "example.com spokesperson" they get quoted as "independent researcher for the Independent Institute of Whatever".

The people who are bringing discredit on themselves are any reporters or lawmakers who fall for the independent foundation trick.
